Trip to App State 3/21/10

Mark, Jennifer, Joey and Darwin ventured out in the ark for a visit to App State for Mark Jr.'s birthday. Rain was really bad. Stopped at Cook Out for lunch, (don't get the hot dog for the car!). We were going to go hiking, but the weather was bad so we went to the outlets in Blowing Rock. Spent too much money on clothes (husband and wife are just as bad). Then it was off to pick up Mark Jr. and the crew. He brought the whole dorm to dinner. Dinner was at Tupelo's, an international cafe in Boone. We had a great time and then the dreaded trip home in the mist and fog. Not too bad once we got down off the mountain. A quick stop at Dunkin Donuts for a coffee and we were home pretty early. Happy Birthday Mark!

Shamrock 4 mile Run

Imagine that, a run right near home! Run for Your Life Gran Prix series, race #1. A straight line jaunt down Ballantyne Commons Parkway. As usual, got caught up in the crowd at the start and went out way too fast. But stayed on a fast pace down to the turn around. Was motivated seeing the leaders blow past on the return leg and the wheelchair racers. Was strong back up the long finishing hill, back into Stone Crest and then sprinting down the home stretch to finish 9:40 under my goal time. Downside-pretty much dead for the rest of the day!

A great run today! 5 miles, great weather. Now 2 days of no running!
